JLS Graphic Design | Owner/Director/Designer
I'm currently working as a freelance art director. I specialize in logo/branding/identity design, all facets of print design, multi-media/web design, and digital illustration. I'm just as comfortable working on single projects for small, family-owned business as I am on full marketing campaigns for large retailers or major automotive companies. Let's create something awesome together!

PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE: |
Jackson Dawson Communications | Sr. Art Director | 07/2016 - 07/2019
What a blast it was to be a part of the fast-paced graphic services team at Jackson Dawson. Our group was the hub of design activity for the entire company, servicing all departments and partnered businesses, which means there was always plenty to do and a wide variety of it to be done. From websites and mobile apps, to event graphics, and everything in-between, I got to help clients reach their customers in new and exciting ways. It was the best of both worlds - I got to bring my strengths and experience to work, but was learning new things all the while.
Premier Communications Group | Sr. Art Director | 04/2016 - 07/2016It was an honor to be a part of an agency that’s been putting out some strong creative for over 30 years. Right out of the gate I was assigned a brand identity project for a newer client, and made to feel right at home. I served as a lead in the creative process from start to finish on a wide range of projects from print to web. I got to partner with a variety of clients to facilitate their design needs and help them achieve their goals. I also had the privilege to serve as a mentor to others on the creative staff and pass along some of the wisdom imparted to me over the years.
Carhartt, Inc. | Sr. Graphic Designer/Art Director | 04/2008 - 04/2016
As a Sr. member of the Brand Design Team I got to help mould and shape the brand into what it is today - a brand that stands for hard working men and women while standing the test of time. Our team functioned much the same as an agency within the company, my role being similar to that of a Sr. Art Director. The tasks I achieved consisted of designing for print and web, brainstorming and executing full campaigns, and creating in-store or web design solutions for retail partners. What project am I most proud of? Designing the branding for the Force and Extremes lines of products. It is truly an honor to see those designs on clothing made for some of the hardest working people on the planet.

Mirab USA (Marfood USA) | Graphic Designer | 07/2006 - 03/2008Working closely with the Creative Director, my duties were to design packaging for meat-snack products (beef jerky, beef sticks, kippered beef) - both private label for clients such as Meijer, Kroger, Menards, and for company owned brands such as Pecos Bill. I also designed all the company’s advertising for magazine publications and the web, assisted the Creative Director with the design and maintenance of the company’s website, and even wrote a press release or two.

Arrow Uniform | Graphic Designer/Coordinator | 09/1999 - 07/2006This position really allowed me to develop my creative muscle, mainly due to the great mentorship I received from the Marketing Director at the time. Together he and I redesigned the company’s branding/identity, and launched several marketing campaign initiatives. During my time there, I designed and built the company’s website, directed photo shoots, designed all marketing materials from catalogs to direct mail, and mentored a junior designer who was new to the team.
